Inspiring story of Michael Jordan

Who don't know Michael Jordan, the legend of the basketball game and an inspiration for millions of people. He is a source of great motivation for all of us. In fact he is one of the person who showed us all that the combination of talent and hard work is the real secret to success.

He is currently the owner of the Charlotte Hornets and he had also played 15 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), winning six championships with the Chicago Bulls. 

Though Michael Jordan's net worth is about $2 billion but times were not much easy for him during his childhood. This success of Michael Jordan is only because of his hardwork and the spirit of never giving up.

Today I'm going to show you all this spirit of never giving up of Michael Jordan through   an original story from his childhood. This story will tell you all that Michael was having this kind of attitude from his childhood and I'm damn sure that after reading this story you all will surely be inspired and motivated.

The inspiring story:

Once when Michael was of about twelve, his father called him. Showing him a dirty and old shirt, he ask Michael,”What you think would the shirt cost?”Michael replied his father by saying,”I think $1”. His father said correct and told him to go out and somehow sell the shirt for two bucks. 

Michael started thinking how can I sell this old shirt for two bucks.Suddenly he had an idea so, he washed the shirt, iron it and then fold it properly.

He went out and tried to sell the shirt for $2. He went to local streets, bus stand and nearby railway station but wasn't able to sell the shirt. At last, after 10-12 hours of struggle he was able to sell the shirt to a person for $2. He happily returned to his house and gave his father the $2. His father became very happy and said that,”You will surely be successful in your life.”

After few days, his father again called him and again ask about the price of a old shirt. Michael this time replied again the same that the shirt is of $1. This time his father ask him to sell it for $20. He was amazed but he didn't say that it is impossible. He started thinking of the idea to sell this shirt.

After few hours of thinking, he had an idea. He went to his friend’s house and with his help he somehow manage to paste a Mickey Mouse sticker on that shirt.

Then he went out to a nearby kindergarten, where the kids of rich people studies. There he started selling that shirt by speaking these lines,"Mickey Mouse shirt for $20.” He continuously said this line. Suddenly a small kid came there and started saying his father that he want that shirt. The kid’s father agreed and bought the shirt from Michael for $25(he gave him a $5 tip).

Michael was very happy after selling that shirt and quickly he went to his house and happily he handover that $25 to his father. His father became very happy as well as a little bit emotional. He happily hugged Michael and said him that one day you would surely be a successful man.

One more day, Michael's father again asked him the same question by showing a shirt and Michael again answered that the shirt is of $1. His father said correct my son and this time he said Michael  to sell this shirt for $200. Michael shockingly said,"What $200?" This time Michael was also a bit of amazed as well as shocked that how he could sell that $1 shirt for $200 but he never said that it’s impossible. He think and think and suddenly he had a great idea.

He went to his room and picked up some paper. He started writing something on that paper and made a big banner. He quickly rushed to the bus stop and catched a bus to his nearby city.

Actually the famous Hollywood actress of that time, Farrah Fawcett had come to that city for her movie promotions. Michael reached that place. He  rushed through the crowd, broke the police barricade, and came in front of Farrah and asked her for her autograph on the shrt. She lovingly  gave her autograph to Michael as he was just a little kid of twelve.

After getting Farrah Fawcett's autograph on the shirt, Michael went to the city's nearby market and there he started selling that signed shirt for $200. Within a span of two minutes there was a huge crowd of people and everyone started bidding for that shirt. Someone said $250, someone said $400 and the bid continued. After a while a man bid for $1000. Most of the people stopped bidding but at the last a man gave a bid of $2000 which  came as the final bid and Michael sold that shirt to that guy for $2000.

After selling the shirt Michael very happily and joyfully came back to his home. He handed over that $2000 to his father and when his father took that money from Michael, tears started rushing out from his father’s eyes and he became very emotional. He tightly hugged Michael and said him that my son you would surely do something great in your life and you will achieve something extraordinary.

And the rest is history.....

Moral (learnings) from the story:

From the inspiring story of Michael Jordan we can learn some many things and can implement them in our life. We came to know that we should never think that we can't do a thing and it's impossible to do it. Rather thinking about this negative side and getting disappointed, we should try to think the solution of that problem which would surely led us to success. This is the golden principle of life and everyone should have this kind of attitude towards any problem in his entire life.
